What have I created?

When looking at the career I wanted to be in. I found myself searching in various media industries. Yes, I want to work in radio and tv. It’s my aspiration to be in these industries. However, since I was a young girl, I loved to write. It was as if it was my own source of entertainment. Not really being able to identify with television of my era I found myself watching my older sisters shows. If I wasn’t happy with the story line, I would adapt to my liking. Sometimes I would transform the story in its entirety.

So currently I’m in the works of creating my first novel. I feel as if the story in particular is strong enough to display my artistic flair. I take inspiration from Maya Angelou as you can see one of my blogs are named after her. She has her own artistic style which till this day she still gets criticised for. Yet the black community celebrates and praises her. I want to be like Oprah Winfrey with rising elements of Maya Angelou but most importantly I want to establish myself as writer, producer and all around personality. My writing is very serious to me I hope to finish my novel by the time I am 23 years old and have it published up to 2 years later.

At the moment me and another MC student are in the works of creating a YouTube channel broadcasting artistic talents are interviewing bright elements of our community. Giving a platform to those voice who aren’t usually heard. Having helped a different MC student with their YouTube channel I feel as if I have a lot to offer.

Writing my novel and working on my YouTube channel is important to me because its establishing myself as a brand and broadening my job aspects, in addition it shows me that I don’t need to work for someone else to get my name out there. Plus it allows me to do what makes me happy.
